The Gaudia Music and Arts
Collection of
Italian Madrigals
John M. Kernochan, Founding Director
This ground-breaking collection of Italian madrigals was compiled over twelve years by scholars specializing in music of the Renaissance. The anthologies include prefatory materials covering the composer, the period, the music, performance practice, and appendices that include notes on the transcriptions, sources, and translations.
Each of the anthologies in the series is beautifully engraved and bound in a 7 x 10 inch format suitable for performance or study. Individual numbers of the collections are also available (less the musicological material) as octavos. Listed below are the anthologies.
See the Gaudia Italian Madrigals catalog for the octavos.
While most of the selections are a cappella, some include either optional or required instrumental accompaniment. See the catalog listing for details.
